Settings
What a person can change about their own account, and which of those choices override the owner's defaults.
Every account has a Settings dialog with six panes. It opens from the account menu rather than living in the sidebar, because it is somewhere a person goes occasionally and with intent.
The six panes
| Pane | What is in it |
|---|---|
| General | The everyday preferences of the account |
| Appearance | Accent colour, interface size, editor code size, motion, contrast, diff colours |
| Notifications | Which events send a message, one toggle each |
| Profile | Name, avatar, and how the account appears to others |
| Security and login | Password change, and the sessions open right now |
| Account | The address, the plan it is on, and leaving |
Appearance, in detail
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Accent | The colour of buttons and highlights, with presets and a custom colour |
| Interface size | Compact, default, large or largest, which is a scaling of the whole product |
| Editor code size | The type size inside the code editor, set separately from the interface |
| Reduce motion | Shortens every animation to nothing. The honest answer for a person who wants it |
| Contrast | Stronger borders and text, for a bright room or a dim screen |
| Diff colours | How added and removed lines are coloured, for people who read diffs all day |
Everything here is the person's own choice, and it overrides the installation's defaults set in
Brand → Appearance. That ordering is deliberate: an owner sets what a new account starts with, and a person
sets what they live with.
Notifications
One toggle per event: builds, deployments, pictures, usage, team, what is new, tips and sign-ins. A toggle is about messages inside the product and the mail that goes with the important ones, so turning off Tips does not turn off a deployment failure.
Profile and avatar
A name, and an avatar. With no picture set, the account gets a generated face rather than a letter in a circle, which is a deliberate choice: a letter tells you nothing and a face is at least pleasant.
Security and login
Change the password, with the current one. There is no password history and no forced rotation.
End a session that is not yours, or end every session except the one you are using.
A password change does not end other sessions by itself. That is worth knowing before assuming a suspicious sign-in has been dealt with: ending them is the second click.
The account menu, which is the quickest way around
| Item | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Activity | Every conversation, newest first |
| Import memory to Loomis | The memory import flow |
| Avatar | The avatar dialog |
| Usage limits | What has been spent this week and this month |
| Team | Seats, members and invitations |
| Theme | Light or dark, with the wipe animation |
| Settings | This dialog |
| Manage subscription | The plan, the catalogue, and cancelling |
| Send feedback | A message to the owner, which arrives in the panel |
| Log out | Ends this session |
Send feedback lands in the owner's inbox
It is the fastest channel a user has to the person running the installation,
and it appears in People → Support. Worth mentioning to users, because most
of them never look for it.
