Chat
Composing a turn, choosing a model, attaching files, the modes, and what happens when a turn is refused.
The chat is where the work happens. /dashboard/new is a new conversation, and the composer travels into the
conversation rather than being rebuilt, so a conversation is one continuous thing rather than a set of screens.
The composer
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| The prompt | One box, growing as it fills. Enter sends, Shift and Enter starts a new line |
| The model picker | Select your model, with search across the whole available list |
| The modes menu | Upload files, Add from library, Create image, Web search, Deep search |
| Attachments | Up to six per turn, uploaded when the turn is sent |
| Stop | Stops a running turn. What was produced stays |
Attachments are uploaded to the installation's own file store and travel with the turn, so a retry does not need the file uploaded a second time, and a file added from the library does not need uploading at all.
The three tiers, and the long list
The picker leads with three tiers and hides the rest behind search:
| Tier | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Mini | Quick answers, small edits, and almost everything that is not hard |
| Pro | The everyday default, and the one most turns should use |
| Max | Hard problems, long reasoning, and turns where being wrong costs more |
The full gateway list is behind the search box, filtered by what Intelligence → Models allows and by what the
plan's entitlements unlock. A model that is visible here and not in the plan is refused when the turn is sent,
with the plan named as the reason.
Which models are in each tier, what they are called and whether they are live at all is an owner's decision, on
Intelligence → Models.
Modes
Upload files
Take a file from this machine into the turn, up to six at a time.
Add from library
Bring something already in the account's library, without uploading it again.
Create image
Ask for a picture. The rules for which models may draw and what prompts are refused are the owner's.
Web search
Let the turn look something up. Unlocked per plan, and billed as a turn.
Deep search
A longer search with more reading, for questions that a single result cannot answer.
What a turn can actually do
A turn is not only text. Inside a project, the assistant can read the files it is given, propose new ones, and propose changes to the ones that exist. Every proposal arrives as a diff: the change is written to the project when it is accepted, and nothing is written when it is refused.
That is the whole safety story of this product, and it is worth repeating to your own users in your own words: the assistant proposes, the person decides. Nothing is overwritten silently.
Long conversations
A conversation that grows past what a model can carry is summarised rather than truncated: the older part is
compacted into a shorter form, and the turn continues with the summary. How much thinking a turn may spend, and
when compaction happens, are settings in Intelligence → Agent behaviour.
The conversation list is not a page. It is the Search chats dialog, which is where a past conversation is found by what was said in it rather than by when it happened.
When a turn is refused
A refusal is a working installation saying no, and the four reasons are worth knowing by name because they are different problems:
| Reason | Where it is decided | What the person can do |
|---|---|---|
| No key | Intelligence → Providers & keys | Nothing. It is an owner's problem |
| A rate limit | Platform → Rate limits & abuse | Wait. The message names the window |
| A spend ceiling | Money → Credits | Wait for the window, or ask for credits |
| A blocked model | Intelligence → Models | Pick another model |
A refusal message names the window and the wait, because "try again later" without a number is how a support queue is built.
Practice that saves support time
Ask people to start a conversation per task rather than keeping one alive for a week. Compaction works, and a fresh conversation is cheaper and sharper.
Tell them the tiers exist. A support question that reads "it is slow and expensive" is usually a Max tier on a Mini task.
Say plainly that a refused change costs nothing, because the alternative is people accepting a diff they did not read.
